Ingredient: cowslip flowers (Primulae flores)

Cowslip flowers, leaves and rhizome with roots have long been used in traditional herbal practice. The plant is traditionally known for supporting the airways and helping to loosen mucus. Besides the roots, the flowers and leaves have also traditionally been used for the throat and airways, and they are considered gentler. The plant contains natural saponins. The aerial parts have traditionally been used as a calming herbal tea, and the flowers in particular for a sense of relaxation. Less known is the external use of the plant in compresses or rinses for refreshing and toning facial skin and caring for the scalp.

Preparation: pour 1 cup of boiling water over 1–2 tsp of flowers and let steep for 10–45 minutes, stirring occasionally, then strain.
