Organic cloves are used with boiled fish, poultry, pork and game, in sauces, mushroom and vegetarian dishes, preserves, fruit soups (kissel), fruit desserts, gingerbread, mulled wine, hot juice and tea drinks, marinades, sprat, Baltic herring and herring dishes, and with oven-baked onions and tomatoes.

The clove tree was probably discovered in the 16th century by Portuguese sailors in the Spice Islands. The unopened flower buds of the clove tree are used as a spice. Cloves have been an important element of Eastern cuisine and one of the components of curry, used both whole and ground.
