Rooibos Tea 100 g, organic

African red tea, or rooibos, is made from the leaves of the rooibos shrub. Rooibos has been popular in South Africa for centuries and is now enjoyed all over the world.

To produce it, the crushed leaves are left to ferment, which gives the tea its characteristic reddish-brown colour and enhances its flavour.

Rooibos tea contains no caffeine and, compared with black or green tea, is low in tannins. Rooibos also contains polyphenols, flavonoids, dihydrochalcones and aspalathin.

Preparation: pour 0.25 l of boiling water over 1 tsp of tea, let steep for 5–10 minutes and strain.
