BOSWELLIA + LIPOSOMAL CURCUMIN

Indian frankincense (Boswellia serrata) has an important place in traditional medicine, especially in Ayurveda, where it has traditionally been used to support joint well-being and digestion. Boswellia serrata is a tropical tree species that grows mainly in the dry mountains and rocky areas of India and Pakistan. The plant is known for its resin, called frankincense, which has traditionally been used for both medicinal and religious purposes. Indian frankincense resin is known for its fragrant, smoky aroma and is used in the traditional incense industry. To obtain frankincense, incisions are made in the bark, after which a milky resin flows out and hardens in the air and sun. The resin takes on a yellowish, reddish or brownish colour. The most important constituents of frankincense resin are boswellic acids, along with essential oil, polysaccharides and terpenes.

Turmeric (Curcuma L.) contains curcumin, a natural antioxidant compound.

In liposomal curcumin, curcumin (the active compound found in turmeric) is enclosed in liposomes. Liposomes are tiny fat molecules that form a shell, protect the substance and help transport it more effectively into the body’s cells.

Benefits of liposomal curcumin

Better absorption: one of the main advantages of liposomal curcumin is its increased absorption. Regular curcumin is a fat-soluble compound, but its absorption in the digestive tract can be limited. Liposomes help curcumin pass through the barriers of the digestive tract, so that more of it reaches the bloodstream and cells.
Smaller dose: because liposomes increase the absorption of curcumin, a smaller dose of liposomal curcumin is needed compared with regular curcumin.
Gentler on the stomach: in some people regular curcumin can cause stomach discomfort. The liposome shell acts as a protective barrier, reducing direct contact with the digestive tract.
Greater stability: liposomes help prevent curcumin from breaking down in the digestive tract, so more of it reaches the cells in active form.
