Cha Dô Bai Mu Dan White Loose-Leaf Tea 50 g

A mild white loose-leaf tea with low caffeine, made from the first spring tea leaves. An organic Fair Trade product.

Only the youngest, undamaged top leaf buds of the tea bush, not yet opened, are used to make white tea. They are minimally processed – the harvested buds are dried in the sun or with hot air immediately after picking – so the tea keeps its delicate, fresh flavour with rich nuances. White tea is not fermented, oxidised or over-processed.

White tea is lower in caffeine and higher in antioxidants than other teas. Like green tea, white tea has a cooling character, but its taste is softer and less “grassy”. White tea has a pale colour and a subtle aroma.

To prepare, use about one to one and a half teaspoons of tea leaves per cup. The water should be brought to the boil and cooled to about 70–80 °C (not boiling water!). White tea has an exceptionally short steeping time – 1–2 minutes. With longer contact with water, the aroma becomes stronger, but a bitter, tannic taste develops.
