This traditional tea is made from the tea plant Camellia sinensis and is popular as an invigorating drink or in creative cooking. Matcha is a central part of Japanese tea culture and is gaining more and more fans around the world.<\/p>\n<h5>Why matcha?<\/h5>\n<p>Polyphenols: matcha naturally contains plenty of polyphenols.<\/p>\n<p>Caffeine: the caffeine in matcha gives an energising lift; thanks to the L-theanine it contains, many people find it gentler than ordinary coffee.<\/p>\n<h5>How is matcha made?<\/h5>\n<p>Matcha is created through a process that preserves the natural qualities of the tea leaves:<\/p>\n<p>Cultivation and shading: the tea plants are shaded for about three weeks before harvest. This promotes the formation of chlorophyll, giving the leaves a rich green colour and intense flavour.<br \/>\nHarvest: for this matcha, the leaves are picked at the second harvest. This later harvest gives a strong and intense flavour that is ideal for culinary use.<br \/>\nSteaming and drying: after harvesting, the leaves are steamed to stop oxidation and then gently dried to preserve freshness and nutrients.<br \/>\nGrinding: the dried leaves are ground into fine matcha powder that is especially easy to add to food and drinks.<br \/>\nOrigin and quality: the matcha comes from controlled organic cultivation and is processed with great care to preserve the natural qualities of the tea leaves.<br \/>\nFlavour: the subtly tart, intense flavour harmonises perfectly with sweet and savoury ingredients. Matcha is ideal for smoothies, baked goods, sauces and many other creative dishes.<br \/>\nProcessing: the leaves stay on the plant longer and are picked at the second harvest. This late harvest gives the matcha its special intensity.<br \/>\nAppearance: the bright green colour is not only a visual delight but also a sign of the product&#8217;s high quality and freshness.<\/p>\n<h5>Ingredients:<\/h5>\n<p>100% matcha green tea powder (from controlled organic cultivation in Japan)<br \/>\nNutritional values per 100 g<br \/>\nEnergy 1295 kJ \/ 310 kcal<br \/>\nFat 4.0 g<br \/>\n\u2013 of which saturates 0.9 g<br \/>\nCarbohydrate 26 g<br \/>\n\u2013 of which sugars 4.3 g<br \/>\nFibre 35 g<br \/>\nProtein 25 g<br \/>\nSalt 0.01 g<\/p>\n<p>Recommended use: Raab Organic Matcha is ideal for modern drinks and dishes or for cooking and baking.
