Collagen is a structural protein that is formed in special cells called fibroblasts, in the dermis layer. Fibroblasts also produce other structural elements, i.e. elastin and hyaluronic acid.<\/p>\n

Both the formation and degradation of collagen take place in the dermis. Enzymes are responsible for degradation, while collagen repairs and replaces damaged cells or builds new cellular structures throughout our lives.<\/p>\n
